Meet the Team

Wilfried Wimmler
Managing Director
Wilfried Wimmler was born in Austria in 1961. After completing his early education, he attended Engineering school in Graz. During the period 1980-82, Wilfried was employed by Bauer GmbH in Austria. His principal role there was in the drafting office where he obtained significant experience in irrigation process and pump design. In late 1982 he transferred to Netzsch where he obtained experience in water and wastewater treatment plants, filter presses, fine grinding mills and pumps. This entailed having a thorough understanding of various chemical and industrial process technologies. In 1991, Wilfried immigrated to Australia. During the following years he represented Netzsch in Australia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, specialising in filter presses to the mining industry. After a further 6 year period of equipment supply and consulting to the mining industry in Australia, Wilfried entered into a joint venture with ISHIGAKI Company Ltd to establish ISHIGAKI Oceania Pty Ltd in Perth, WA. He managed IOPL successfully for over 11 years.
He is now the Managing Director of Innovative Filtration Solutions.

Dirk Nieuwkerk
Business Development Water and Waste Water
Dirk Nieuwkerk was born in Canada in 1959. He completed his Diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1980. His career started with Drilling Fluids at Dresser Industries including solid liquid and liquid liquid solid separation.  His position took him through Canada, The USA and Europe. In 1986 having moved to Australia he worked for Cleanaway at their liquid waste treatment and disposal site in Tullamarine. In 1989 he moved to Westfalia Separator (now GEA) in a sales role covering all aspects of centrifugal separation covering such diverse industries as Dairy, Wine, Beer, Mineral Oil, Starch and Water and Wastewater. In 2000 he started his own business as a process advisor to industry. Dirk worked closely during this time with Flottweg Australia on various projects, and later on Ishigaki Oceania Pty. Ltd.; primarily in their water and waste water business. This was a part time role and he continued to work with smaller companies on process issues. He now has a similar role with Innovative Filtration Solutions.

Lukas Wimmler (Supplier trained Engineer)
Technical Director and Project Engineering
Lukas Wimmler was born in Austria, however, has lived most of his life in Australia. In 2015 he graduated from the University of Western Australia with a double Bachelor degree in Engineering (Chemical Process) and Science (Chemistry). Lukas specialises in the Screw Press technology after having written his Thesis on the Screw Press’ application on tailings and working directly with the manufacturer to improve their designs. Having been involved with Filtration technologies over the past 10 years, although being quite young, Lukas is very experienced in this industry ranging from chemical experience as well as project management. He recently spent 2 years in Europe working directly with IEA, the Screw Press manufacturer, and is the only supplier trained Screw Press technician in the southern Hemisphere.
